This project investigates the layered history of Bryant Park through the lens of material memory and generational change. Once a potter’s field, military encampment, reservoir, and now a public space, the park has been continuously reshaped, often erasing traces of its past. We identified stone as a silent witness to these transitions, a material that has endured across time. By extracting stones, inscribing them with forgotten histories, and returning them to the site, we create an open-air archive, inviting the public to engage with the hidden narratives embedded in the park’s ground.
